I was interested to read this newly released code for safer workplaces from the entertainment industry this week. It targets inappropriate behaviours including workplace bullying.
A few inclusions that stand out for me:
- Gossip and confidentiality: all employees deserve the right to confidentiality and subject to a fair process.
- Leadership and management have a responsibility to role model appropriate standards.
- The role of bystanders and that it takes courage to stand up; and the vital role that their support plays in surviving and preventing inappropriate workplace behaviours.
